Which hob is best for me?

Scroll down

There are a few things to consider when buying a new hob. There's the type of heating system (induction or gas), the size, surfaces, user interface and a whole range of innovative features to choose from. To help you decide, this guide answers the most common questions.

Which hob heating system is best for me?

It depends on what you value most—price, performance, or style. Electrical induction hobs offer a similarly impressive look with fast and efficient heating, while gas hobs provide the best cooking performance all around.

What is an induction hob?

In an induction hob, the heat is conducted directly to the pans and their contents via induction coils, without heating the glass surface of the hob. Induction hobs generate instant heat only where needed and cool immediately, making them more energy-efficient than ceramic hobs, and safer too.

What is a gas hob?

As the name suggests, this type of hob creates heat by igniting gas. If you appreciate the advantages of cooking over an open flame, Siemens gives you the ideal way to do it with a range of ceramic, tempered glass or stainless-steel gas hobs.

What hob size do I need?

Hobs range in width from small 30cm to extra-large 90cm versions. The size you need depends on how much space is available in your kitchen and your cooking habits. However, if you already have an extractor hood installed, choose a hob that is the same size or slightly smaller.

What is a flexible induction zone?

Flexible induction zones are additional heating zones that increase the total cooking area available when needed. For example, when using a large pot that extends beyond the standard induction zones. Most Siemens induction hobs detect the size of your cookware and connect heating elements automatically.

Cook with flexibility: flexInduction

Siemens flexInduction hobs detect the size and shape of your cookware. If one cooking zone is not large enough, cooking zones are extended in two directions, adding more depth or width, or both depending on where heat is needed. This is ideal for extra-large cookware up to 30cm in diameter and for Teppanyakis and grill plates that are up to 40cm long.

What innovative features does Siemens offer?

How can I control the heat settings on my hob?

Tap and slide: blue dual lightSlider

Two touch-sensitive controls lit up in Siemens blue allow you to select and adjust cooking zones with a simple tap and slide motion. When the hob is switched off, the interface disappears to leave you with a sleek and minimalist black glass surface.

Intuitive control: touchSlider single

Choose between 9 heat settings with half levels using the Siemens touchSlider. Simply slide your finger along the control or tap on the exact level you want.
